Video: "State of the Metagame"
Because GW is too serious not to have a sense of humor.
Video: "State of the Metagame" -or- "The glory of Rit Spike" (about 16 mb, 2:40 video)
5 A/Ws encounter a ritualist spike on Jade Isle. Both are top 100 teams. What might happen?
It's a bit blurry, for a reason: to keep the names of the players anonymous. So, please don't pay attention to the capes, and don't squint too hard. (ahaha)
To the mods: if this is the wrong place for this thread, please move it rather than lock it. It just felt right to place it here.

That was pretty hilarious though kinda sad at the same time. Can't comment much without just saying what happens for those who didn't watch!
You get extra points for Wild World, love that song =p

loved the change in song when the attack started, brilliant. Choice was brilliant too.
Disadvantage of running a nonbalanced build, and u meet another nonbalanced one? You have seen the ass build fight other builds as well, and how did they perform against balanced ones? Just wondering.

Don't get your hopes of a nerf up quite yet. They are giving the assassin build another 7-10 days in order to see how it affects the metagame. If it does turn out to be as powerful as it looks, then BoA is getting a big hit (decrease on bottom range of duration). I'm just worried about how it might affect upcoming tournament games.
The rit spike nerf has been seemingly ready for a while. I'm not sure what the state of that is, really, because as far as I'm aware, it should have been implemented by now. They might be working on the final balances or working out the kinks or something, but that one is definite and should be coming fairly soon.
Perhaps discord, rit spike, BoA assassins, and Jade Isle will come as one big fluffy ball of nerf. The changes for each of those have all been announced to be coming "soon".

Its not that strong, it lost against a few balanced teams. if u can blind/ curse em and remove the hexes you will do fine against these asses.

They're going to be playing Whack-a-Mole with IAS stances if they take that route. The only reason BoA's being used is because it's the most-ideal one. Tiger Stance will work just as well on spikes since it has the same cooldown as Shadow Prison. I still say that the more-ideal solution is to make Black Lotus Strike a lead attack, as the entire reason SP builds work is because you can fire two duals with only 4 attacks, something that goes against how the entire rest of the class is designed, and a mechanic that is apparently worthy of elite status to bypass (Palm Strike).

If BoA gets hit, the same build could work perfectly with Tiger Stance. It's 20s recharge, but who cares, so is SP, and an SP sin only spikes every 20s anyway. And 4s duration is all you need to fire your 4 attack skills. And who cares if it ends if you fail to hit, cause if you fail to hit your chain is screwed anyway and your spike failed so the IAS is pointless.
Next thing they'll try is raise recharge on BSS to 20s and then wonder why nothing changed and the build is still as good... *sigh*
Giving 2 straight off-hands that work with an hexed foe is the problem, especially with their current cost and SP being 5E. If they wanna keep the damage on the skills as they are now (and they shouldn't be nerfed much), either they must change BSS or BLS to a lead attack (BSS or BLS could be a lead attack that poison/give energy if target is hexed. BSS would actually a very good lead if it was 5/4 and did same +damage and poison hexed targets, one of the few leads worth taking) or raise energy cost of SP to 10E and BSS to 10E (then the combo, using energy for IAS, would take a lot of energy to pull reliably).

Or flail even. The reduced movement doesn't matter much when the target has shadow prison.

Nerf shadow prison PLX. 10 energy and/or 25s recharge. At least make it comparable to other assassin elites, ffs.
And, thanks to those who kindly responded to the video. It was lots of fun to make.

Is it me or does it seem like the metagame is getting worse? Before things were somewhat imbalanced but the recent batch of stuff is overpowered, period.

The IAS nerf is questionable. However, from talking to the devs in charge of skill balancing, they seem to think it will help. I guess we'll see.
As for beating the build, balling up and using blinding surge, as they all have order of the vamp, is ideal, but they may get wise to it and stop putting up orders, at which point you're screwed. The majority of builds don't carry curses, and you can't remove the hexes off of all five people, especially since the spike comes directly with the cast of the hex, since there is no aftercast on shadow stepping.
